asian-pacific-american-heritage-month-2012May 18, 2012 Both Guro and Simo, Ervin and Eloy Quintin, visited the Oceana Naval Airstation as a special guest to present the Filipino Martial Arts for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2012. This day used to only be a week long until 1992 where it was permanently designated for the month of May.

Besides the wide array of techniques using the stick, knife, flexible weapons and empty hand striking, the culture and rich history was shared to the US Navy and Marine service men and women that are stationed at the Virginia Beach command which graciously hosted this presentation.

"The Filipino Martial Arts is more than just swinging a stick or holding a weapon. If you are a student of the art, then you are in turn a student of the culture. I'm blessed to continue to demonstrate and show this martial art system to our community especially the military. It gives me pleasure to be chosen to further connect our multi-cultural nations with how the Philippines and the United States have history. That it stemmed from the Filipino Martial Arts. It definitely is an honor and a privelidge." ~ Guro Ervin Quintin

Virginia Open 2012 WinIMPACT's grappling group and BJJ Coach, Chris (Kuya) Costa, collectively brought home eight medals from the Virginia Open 2012! They placed in Gi and No Gi divisions where there was a tremendous amount of skill and talent.

It was an exciting time for them as they made their way through each bout with intensity and determination. Congratulations to all of you!

Filipino Martial Arts is now available for daytime classes!  After many requests, we have opened up the opportunity for everyone to get the chance to train in our FMA program during the day.  This class is beginner friendly, filled with lots of opportunity to focus on fundamental material and runs from 12pm - 1pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.

On March 3rd, 2012, IMPACT Martial Arts Academy hosted guest instructor Guro Bob Shin, Full Instructor under Pamana Tuhon Chris Sayoc of the Sayoc Kali Organization.  We had several of our local students, guests from around Hampton Roads and also an out-of-town guest who drove all the way to Virginia Beach from Tennesee!  We worked on several drills, learned some new ways of approaching different scenarios based on the way it was presented and everyone got the chance to work with Guro Bob in everything they learned that day.

Guro Ervin Quintin attends and is invited as an exhibitor at the New Breed of Warrior event 2011 hosted by GSS and the Navy League of Hampton Roads. {rokbox size=|640 480| title=|Click here to watch a segment of the demonstration.|}{/rokbox}
